Escuela Key Teachers & Staff Grants

The PTA budget includes support for teachers and staff to apply for Educational Grants for programs, projects, and/or materials that enhance the educational experience of students at Escuela Key Elementary. Applications may be submitted by individual teachers/staff or by teaching teams (e.g., grade level, subject, etc.).

Grants are approved by the PTA Educational Grants Committee, which includes parent volunteers and school administration.

We are now accepting applications for the 2025/2026 school year. The fall application deadline is October 30, 2025.

Grant Application Review Cycles

The PTA typically has a fall grant cycle and then moves to rolling applications. The application will close once all budgeted funds are awarded.

  • Fall application deadline: October 30 (review before November 15)
  • If you need funds before mid-November, note this on the application so we can process it sooner.

Funding

  • Total 2025/2026 grants budget: $13,000.
  • Individual grant cap: $1,000. Team grant cap: $2,000.
  • Exceptions may be considered—email grants-committee@keypta.org before applying.
  • Receiving an individual grant does not prevent staff from applying as part of a team.
  • Award counts and amounts may vary by cycle based on the applications received.
  • Please request only the funds needed to cover your expenses.

Requirements & Considerations

Educational Grants are for the current school year and must be used for educational purposes.

Primary considerations

  • How does the grant fulfill a need or benefit students?
  • Is the goal or project achievable with available resources and time?

Additional considerations

  • How many students will benefit?
  • Is the project innovative for Key students?
  • Will materials be useful in future school years?

Examples of Eligible Expenses

  • Books that enhance or enrich the curriculum (e.g., DLI/biliteracy resources, classroom libraries, readers and read-aloud Wonderbooks for ELLs, Spanish chapter books).
  • Supplies or equipment for in-class teaching and hands-on activities (e.g., musical instruments, subscriptions to online teaching-game platforms, math problem-solving kits, Spanish-language games).
  • Tools for student emotional regulation (fidgets, wobble chairs, etc.).
  • Enrichment programs not included in the current PTA budget (e.g., custodian costs for a weekend soccer clinic, a sewing circle, a sister-school program in Nicaragua).
  • Classroom or learning-environment supplies that make spaces more pleasant, fit-for-purpose, or welcoming (e.g., beanbag chairs, bookshelves to organize classroom libraries).
  • Stipends for guest speakers.

Ineligible Expenses

  • Materials typically provided by APS.
  • Textbooks or supplies required to implement the curriculum.
  • IT or A/V equipment, peripherals, or software (laptops, keyboards, TVs, monitors, CD players, educational software, printers, toner, paper).
  • Professional development, teacher training, or conferences. The PTA does fund these activities, but funds are administered directly by Escuela Key Administration. Please contact the Principal or Assistant Principal for requests in these categories.
